Atlantic Beach is a popular vacation destination that gained significant attention during the 1920s. If you're looking for a location with pristine beaches and abundant sportfishing opportunities, Atlantic Beach offers it all!

Atlantic Beach was developed in the 1800s as an innovative beachside resort and community. When the first bathing pavilion was constructed in 1887, it led to hotels and bathhouses that drove many tourists to the Atlantic Beach area. By 1959, Atlantic Beach has become a popular tourism destination for East Coast locals and tourists alike.

Locals still visit Atlantic Beach for a day excursion because of its accessibility from Bogue Sound and Morehead City. The Bathhouse, a picnic area with approximately 300 parking spaces and various coastal amenities, is where most beachgoers go. The increasing number of tourists in the area prompted retail businesses and gift shops where visitors could dine and buy souvenirs.

Since Atlantic Beach's docks were built, sportfishing has become prevalent activity. Anglers of all skill levels frequent the Oceanana Fishing Pier and the Anchorage Marina since they are great places to socialize, explore, and fish.

Atlantic Beach is a shoreline community ideal for recreation and angling. Angling has been a significant lure for travelers to Atlantic Beach, resulting in developments designed around anglers' interests, such as fishing docks, bait and tackle shops, and campgrounds for fishing enthusiasts.

Oceanana Fishing Pier is the only ocean fishing pier in Atlantic Beach and a favorite among anglers. 1000 meters into the Atlantic Ocean, anglers have quick access to Atlantic Beach's immense fish population, making it a terrific place to catch Florida pompano, summer flounder, black drum, and king mackerel. Oceanana Fishing Pier anglers often employ baitcasting and spinning techniques. Oceanana Pier House is located within Oceanana Fishing Pier and offers a variety of fishing equipment, bait, and food options.

Anchorage Marina is a deepwater harbor on the Southern Outer Banks of Atlantic Beach. It is popular with anglers seeking deep sea fishing or sound fishing. Spanish mackerel, red drum, and blacktip shark are common catches in Anchorage Marina. Bait and tackle shops nearby sell boat supplies and nautical charts.

Crow's Nest Yacht Club is a private marina with convenient access to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Beaufort Inlet. Largemouth bass and red drum are common catches here, and it has a boat ramp, a pool, indoor showers, gas grills, and an outside deck where novice anglers can practice. For a safe angling experience, Crow's Nest Yacht Club offers maintenance and repair services for various boats.

Angling is excellent all year in Atlantic Beach since the variety of fish in its waters allows for endless angling opportunities, including pelagic fishing. The best months to target game fish such as largemouth bass are from March to May or around April, May, and November for anglers targeting Atlantic Beach's prized red drum.
