Known as the Big Guava, Tampa Bay is stunning, plus it is near the Gulf of Mexico. Tampa is situated near many barrier islands, that it takes a high level of skill of surveying and navigating to get around. But after navigating around the barrier islands, you’ll find yourself surrounded by glistening rainbow waters from the different bodies of water in Tampa. As one of the major cities, Tampa boasts being the third-largest city in Florida, only falling short of both Jacksonville and Miami.

Asides from Tampa’s natural beauty, it’s home to the Busch Gardens. The Busch Gardens made its name for being home to an African-themed amusement park. Even if they’re thrill-seekers, it has much to offer for both relaxation and thrill-seeking when people go to Tampa.

Tampa Bay's Inshore Fishing Experience

Ask any fishing charter in Tampa and they’ll tell you that Tampa is famous for inshore fishing. Most especially fly fishing, Tampa prides itself in being the home for the Backcountry Slam, which are famous fly fishing targets. Although the redfish, tarpon, and snook are all present in Tampa, the snook is the one that takes the title as Tampa’s signature fish.

Aside from the redfish, tarpon, and snook, there’s the speckled sea trout that hang around the grass flats at the Gulf of Mexico. Then, there’s freshwater fish inshore with the largemouth bass. How does Tampa manage to house fish that have entirely different water preferences? The secret lies in their location and their structure. Tampa Bay is a pathway for freshwater species, while the Gulf of Mexico brings in saltwater fish species. Put that together, and you have brackish enough waters for any fish.

Tampa takes pride in having both the snook and speckled sea trout available all year round. But fishing charters would have great advice for you about it. They’re familiar with the peak seasons of the fish. Snook peak from April to October with speckled sea trout, although their peak season stops in July. But it doesn’t mean that they disappear. It’s just that the bigger ones have better things to do after those months.

Never Miss these in Tampa Bay

1. Visit the Busch Gardens

If you’re in Tampa, make sure you visit the Busch Gardens. It’s the signature amusement area of Tampa. Its main attractions are the many rides with African-based designs. What gives tourists a more memorable experience is getting around the Busch Gardens and exploring nine areas. People have to ride the steam train known as the Serengeti Express. The Serengeti Express will take you to all parts of the Busch Gardens.

2. Indulge the Thrill-Seeker in You: Face the SheiKra

The SheiKra is one of Tampa’s main attractions and must-rides for any thrill-seeker. Years ago, the SheiKra was considered the fastest rollercoaster in the United States. As you go through the circuit and reach the top, you’ll find yourself plummeting from 200ft and running at 70 miles per hour through all the twists, turns, and loops. Talk about a heartstopping ride!

3. Learn about Marine Life at the Florida Aquarium

Something more relaxing might be right up your alley. The best place for that is the Florida Aquarium. The Florida Aquarium serves as a conservation area and showcases all marine life, including those exclusively native to Florida. But that’s not all. They offer summer camps and classes to learn about Marine Conservation. And who knows? You might have a chance to swim with a manatee!
