Aberjona River is a freshwater river located in Middlesex, Massachusetts. It is 15 km long and considered to be a highly developed river in the suburbs of Massachusetts. The name “Aberjona” came from the local language in Massachusetts, which is the Natick language, and it means “junction or confluence.” Aberjona River flows through Reading, Woburn, and Winchester going south and ends in Mystic Lakes. There are three alternative names for Aberjona River: Abajona Brook, Abajona River, and Head of Mystic River. 

When - colonists started erecting dams, creating mill ponds, and cutting new channels for mills, the exact location and nature of the river became difficult to find in historical maps. Additionally, this caused severe damage to the community that caused floods and waters became polluted--several wastes are from chemical and tanning industries disposed of in Aberjona River and other surrounding water.

The name Middlesex in Massachusetts is from Middlesex in England. There are many exciting places here, such as the Harvard Museum of Natural History.
