Grand Lake is a freshwater lake found within Plaquemines Parish in Louisiana. It’s found approximately 13.6 miles away from the city of Lake Arthur and has an elevation of about 3.7 meters. The lake is large in scale, with a maximum length of 10 miles and a width of 8 miles. It’s so massive that when measured in acres, it reaches about 42,100 in total. It’s found close by a few water bodies, including Umbrella Bay, Betty Lake, Lake Benoit, and Little Catfish Lake. The lake is also close to a few towns, including Hackberry, Lowry, and Moss Lake. 

The lake is connected to the Mermentau River, which can be seen flowing through its western extremities. In terms of location, it's considered to be isolated, lacking many direct accesses from roads and highways. The best way to reach the lake is through the Intercostal Waterway that passes through its northern extremity. This lake also provides easy access to the Gulf of Mexico, making it a popular spot for fishermen and tourists. 

The town nearest to the lake is named Lake Arthur. It’s found in the southeastern part of Jefferson Davis Parish and contains a tidal section of the Mermentau River. The location of the lake allowed for an abundance of wildlife, making it a common camping site for the native people called Attakapas. The first colonial settlers made a village here called Lakeside, before eventually growing into what is now called Lake Arthur.

However, locals have reported various other species in the waters including bluegill, redear sunfish, and even the exotic alligator gar.
