Full Day Guided Fishing Trip In Pensacola
Looking to get serious about offshore fishing in Pensacola? This full-day charter is exactly what you need. Eight solid hours on the water with Captain James and his crew, hitting the deep-sea grounds where the big fish live. We're talking about spots that consistently produce Cobia, King Mackerel, Red Snapper, Atlantic Bonito, and whatever else is biting that day. Your group of up to 6 anglers gets the complete setup - rods, reels, bait, tackle, licenses, and ice for your haul. No need to stress about gear or permits, just show up ready to fish.
What to Expect on the Water
This isn't your typical half-day trip where you barely get warmed up before heading back. Eight hours gives us real time to work different spots, adjust tactics, and put you on fish. We'll be running 20-30 miles offshore to the productive grounds where the water gets that deep blue color and the action picks up. The crew knows these waters like the back of their hand, so we're not wasting time guessing where to drop lines. Expect to cover serious ground, from structure fishing for Grouper and Snapper to running and gunning for pelagic species like Kings and Bonito. The boat's equipped with quality fish finders and GPS, so we can pinpoint the sweet spots and get you hooked up fast. Don't worry if you're new to offshore fishing - the crew will get you dialed in on technique and keep you in the game all day.
Trolling and Bottom Fishing
We'll be mixing up techniques depending on what's working and what we're targeting. Trolling is our bread and butter for covering water and finding active fish. We'll pull spreads of ballyhoo, cigar minnows, and artificials at different depths to trigger strikes from Kings, Bonito, and Cobia cruising the blue water. When we mark good bottom structure, we'll switch gears to vertical jigging and bottom fishing with live and cut bait. Circle hooks and heavy tackle help us pull Snapper and Grouper off the bottom before they can get back into the rocks. The crew handles all the rigging and bait prep, but they'll teach you the finer points if you want to level up your game. We're talking proper hook sets, fighting techniques, and reading your rod tip to know what's happening down there. Live bait fishing is also in play when conditions are right - nothing beats a frisky sardine or cigar minnow for getting the attention of trophy fish.

Species You'll Want to Hook
Red Snapper are the crown jewel of Gulf fishing, and Pensacola's offshore structure holds some beauties. These fish are smart and spooky, living around wrecks and hard bottom in 60-150 feet of water. Peak season runs from June through August when federal waters open up. Snappers fight hard on the way up, and their table fare is legendary. Expect fish in the 5-15 pound range, with some real slobs pushing 20+ pounds if you're lucky. They're structure-oriented, so we'll be fishing tight to bottom with heavy weights and circle hooks.
King Mackerel are the speed demons of the Gulf, and summer brings excellent opportunities around Pensacola. These fish are pure adrenaline - long smoking runs and aerial acrobatics that'll test your drag system. We target them from May through October, with peak action in summer months. Kings patrol the thermoclines and current edges, usually in 80-200 feet of water. They're suckers for fast-trolled ballyhoo and Spanish sardines, and when they're feeding, the action can be non-stop. Most fish run 10-30 pounds, but don't be surprised if we hook into a smoker king pushing 40+ pounds.
Atlantic Bonito show up in good numbers during their migration periods, typically spring and fall. These fish are built for speed and endurance - think of them as the marathon runners of the pelagic world. They school up in massive numbers and feed aggressively on small baitfish. Bonito are incredible table fare when handled properly, with meat that rivals any tuna species. They typically run 3-8 pounds and fight way above their weight class. When we find a school, it's game-on with multiple hookups and constant action.
Cobia are the wildcards of Gulf fishing - you never know when one might show up, but when they do, it's always exciting. These fish are curious and often approach the boat, giving anglers sight-fishing opportunities. Spring migration brings the best Cobia action, typically March through May. They're powerful fighters that make long runs and can be surprisingly stubborn near the boat. Most Cobia we see run 20-50 pounds, and they're excellent eating with firm, white meat. We target them around structure, floating debris, and sometimes just cruising in open water.
Spadefish might not get the headlines, but they're fantastic light-tackle targets and excellent table fare. These silver-dollar shaped fish school around offshore structure and can provide non-stop action when you find them. They're most active during summer months and respond well to small hooks and light tackle. Spadefish are perfect for getting kids or novice anglers into some consistent action while waiting for bigger fish to bite. They typically run 1-3 pounds and have a delicate, flaky meat that's perfect for fish tacos.
