Book with Chris Myers
Join Capt. Chris Myers for a world-class inshore fishing experience on Florida’s east coast. Just an hour from Orlando, between Cocoa Beach and Daytona Beach, the Mosquito Lagoon and Indian River offer calm, shallow waters teeming with life. With more than two decades of guiding experience, Capt. Chris specializes in light tackle and fly fishing for redfish, speckled trout, and black drum—species that thrive year-round in this unique ecosystem.
Sight fishing is the highlight here. If you enjoy spotting your catch before casting, this trip delivers. From the bow of a flats boat, you’ll cast to visible fish in skinny water while Capt. Chris quietly poles the boat across grassy flats and sandy shallows. He’ll help you locate and approach your targets, offering tips to fine-tune your technique. Success in this style of fishing is often tied to casting accuracy, making it ideal for anglers with some experience.
If conditions don’t allow for visual targeting, you’ll still be in the action. These waters are rich with opportunity, and Capt. Chris will adjust tactics—using lures and steady casting to locate fish. Whether fishing structure or open flats, redfish, trout, and drum remain top targets year-round.
Fly fishing is also available for redfish, trout, tarpon, and drum. As an FFI Certified Fly Casting Instructor, Capt. Chris brings a teaching approach that’s professional and approachable. Top-quality gear is provided, or you can bring your own. A basic skill set is recommended—flats fish often require quick, accurate 30–50 ft. casts with a 7-weight rod. This trip offers both challenge and reward for dedicated fly anglers.
For beginners, kids, or anyone seeking a relaxed pace, Capt. Chris offers a 4-hour live bait trip using shrimp. This easygoing option explores northern Mosquito Lagoon’s protected creeks and channels. It’s a steady-action outing with a wide variety of potential catches: redfish, trout, sharks, jacks, snapper, ladyfish, and more.
Beyond fishing, this region is full of natural beauty. You may spot dolphins, manatees, stingrays, turtles, and dozens of bird species during your trip. These close-up encounters are a memorable bonus for guests of all ages.
All licenses and tackle are included. Capt. Chris practices catch and release to help preserve this fishery for future generations. Whether you're an experienced angler or just starting out, he tailors each trip to your goals and skill level.
