I wanted to book a family friendly guide who would be good with kids and patient with them. Captain Hartman was everything I was looking for, and provided an experience my kids will never forget. He was patient, and really wanted them to feel included in the experience. We knew nothing, but it didn’t matter, the captain was very knowledgeable and taught us all the basics. And we caught fish! The boat is nice, roomy and comfortable. He said that he says at the beginning of every charter he can be as hands off, or as hands on as his clients would like. So looking forward to next year.

Every time on Captain Weston Hartman’s boat we catch fish. 95% of the time we stop at a spot, we catch fish. He truly makes it look easy. Crazy how much time he puts into actually fishing and being prepared. There is never any down time on this boat, It’s always fishing. That 300 horsepower Yamaha makes it a quick trip to the fish. I have had my best fishing experiences on the “SML Daze” and with Captain Hartman. Pictures 2 and 3 are from one of his prior boats

Had an awesome time with Captain Hartman! I’ve been fishing my whole life for all kinds of species on the fly, spin tackle, in the backcountry, you name it but I had never been out for striper. The Captain was great at getting fish on, we caught some of the biggest small mouth I’ve ever seen in addition to loading up the cooler with plenty of striper. I can’t recommend Captain Westin enough! As someone who works in the guiding industry myself, I feel as though I know what qualities to look for in a fellow guide and Weston has them (patience and expertise). Looking forward to my next trip out on the lake with Captain Weston!

Everything you need to catch strippers is provided. This seemed to include the stripper too. HGS and Cpt. Weston provides a great outing if you're interested in catching some fish. I had a fish fry after two outings I had with him.

Best charter fishing experience I’ve ever had. We were a little lenient in going out with someone we didn’t know as we had never been on a charter before. The captain was great, ran us through the basics at the beginning of the trip, and a safety protocol. He was a wealth of knowledge, we asked many questions and he always had an answer. He has a lot of experience behind him and it showed, we caught our limit of stripers in less than 2 hours.

Captain Westin Hartman provided me with one of the best fishing guide services of my life! Within 30 minutes, my group of 3 had landed 7 fish, which included the biggest freshwater fish I have ever landed (17 LB stripper!) Mr. Hartman is very knowledgeable about fishing, especially at Smith Mountain Lake! He also lets his customers be as hand on, or hands off, as they want to. He told me that he wakes up around 5am to catch bait for all the trips! I definitely recommend giving Captain Hartman a chance to show you just how good of a captain he is! I will 100% be booking another trip this summer!
