The name Indian Trail was derived from the area's history as a trade path for merchants from Petersburg in Virginia to the Waxhaw Indians settlement in the southern Indian Trail.
The area was once known for farming activities, even before the construction of the Seaboard Railroad. The structure of the said railroad paved the way for the economic success of the Indian Trail. Indian Trail was incorporated as a town in 1861, and later in 1907, it was established as a city.
Indian Trail is home to numerous outdoor parks, notably Crooked Creek, Crossing Paths, and Chestnut Square. Each park has exceptional offerings tourists should experience, from walking trails, disc golf courses, large playgrounds, dog parks, tennis courts, and sports fields.
When visiting Indian Trail, anglers are welcome to visit the South Fork Crooked Creek and North Fork Crooked Creek. These creeks are the tributaries of the Rocky River and flow across the Indian Trail area. The streams are home to largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill, black crappie, black drum, golden shiner, and striped bass. Next to the creeks is the Davis Mine Creek. Anglers can catch largemouth bass, bluegill, blue catfish, channel catfish, redear sunfish, pumpkinseed, spotted bass, and grass carp in the creek. Price Mill Creek is connected to Davis Mine Creek and is an ideal spot for bass fishing.
Charlotte Plastics Lake, Charlotte Plastics Lake Number Two, and Baker Quarry Lake are fishing locations in the southern Indian Trail area. These bodies of water are home to largemouth bass, channel catfish, green sunfish, bluegill, black crappie, grass carp, spotted bass, common carp, and cobia. Meanwhile, West Fork Twelvemile Creek and East Fork Twelvemile Creek are located meters from the South Carolina- North Carolina border. While bass fishing is common in these areas, anglers can still go after bluegill, channel catfish, spotted bass, redear sunfish, warmouth, black crappie, and black bullhead.
Indian Trail's geographical location is why many anglers are keen to visit the fishing spots found here. Culvert Branch, Fourmile Creek, and Dry Fork are other areas awaiting anglers' visits.
