About The Anna Maria Sound

About Anna Maria Sound, FL

The Anna Maria Sound is a bay in Anna Maria Island, Florida. Situated in Manatee County, it is bordered by Anna Maria Sound in the east, the Gulf of Mexico in the west, Tampa Bay in the north, and Longboat pass in the south. Anna Maria Sound divides the island it’s named after and the island of Perico on the east. The two islands are connected by a bridge called the Anna Maria Bridge. The Sound is located close to the bridge and the Hamlet of Ilexhurst in Anna Maria Island. Anna Maria Sound has an elevation of 10 feet and is also called the Palma Sola Sound and the Sarasota Pass.

The sound is named after Anna Maria Island, which is a barrier island 7 miles long from its northernmost point to its southernmost point. The island is a popular tourist destination because of its beautiful beaches and scenic view, while anglers visit the island and the sound because of the bounty. Because of this, tourism is one of the main livelihoods in the area.
