I am Captain Joshua Guy, Tampa Bay's top-rated fishing captain. I am the owner and proprietor of Nordic Fishing Charters and Excursions based in Holiday, upper Tampa Bay, Florida. I have 15 years of experience and am always ready to share my fishing experiences. Before fishing, I spent nearly 15 years in the pest control industry. I used to work from Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa Bay, and Fort Lauderdale in Florida.
I can recall some of my earliest memories of fishing with my dad. I have always loved being in the water and fishing. I remember fishing in the Florida Keys when I was four to five years old. My father and uncle used to dive for lobster and set lobster traps. My dad and uncle would dive from the boat while I would fish from the seawall with my mom. I share my earliest fishing experiences with my family. They are the ones who guided me and the reason for my love of fishing.
In 2019, I was hit by a drunk driver and had to undergo surgery back in 2020. The surgery cost me my job in the pest control industry. After that, I started a small business. I had a small bait business supplying live bait from a boat. I obtained my USCG (United States Coast Guard) credentials and started chartering and setting up fishing tours once I recovered from surgery.
Nordic Fishing Charters and Excursions runs fishing trips in Florida year-round and welcomes anglers of all skill levels. We keep our Facebook page and Instagram account updated with information about our fishing trips, while our website is available for clients to check our fishing rates.
I love fishing in the waterways of Fort Lauderdale, specifically Markha Park. Fort Lauderdale and Fort Lauderdale waterways and canals are teaming with all different species of fish like peacock bass, bullseye snakehead, snook, and tarpon. I can catch more than 30 peacock bass while fishing in the area on any given trip. South Florida is the only place in the United States of America to target the coveted peacock bass. Despite the peacock bass' common name and physical similarity, the peacock bass is not closely related to the black bass family members, including the North American largemouth bass.
With Nordic Fishing Charters and Excursions, we fish in Clearwater, Tampa Bay, Tarpon Springs, and Weeki Wachee, depending on our client's preferences. Tampa Bay is the largest untamed wharf and is directly connected to the Gulf of Mexico. Nordic Fishing Charters also conducts fishing trips in the Gulf of Mexico.
Florida is a must-see place for everyone. Anglers can choose a guided tour and guide like a Florida spearfishing guide or even travel to the other side of Florida to experience deep sea fishing in Flagler Beach, FL. But when you visit Florida, I highly encourage you to take a trip with us, Nordic Fishing Charters and Excursions, as we are dubbed one of the best fishing charters in Holiday and Tampa Bay.
With my 15 years of fishing experience, I only have one goal. I aim to make the fishing trip a productive and enjoyable learning experience for all anglers. My expertise involves light tackle fishing, spinning, bottom fishing, trolling, drift fishing, and jigging. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge, expertise, and great experience with young anglers. It is an understatement to declare that Nordic Fishing Charters is a child-friendly charter, but Nordic Fishing Charters and Excursions is a charter adored by youngsters and even kids at heart. It might be tiring to spend a full-day trip on the waters, but once I see the smiles on the child's faces, all the tiring activities become worth it. Nordic Fishing Charters and Excursions takes our clients to inshore fishing, flats fishing, and backcountry fishing in Florida.
As the captain, I will do everything I can to ensure you have a memorable day of fishing. I will have you targeting the fish species biting most frequently on the days leading up to your trip.
