My Treasured Memories and Experiences As A Guide Expert

by David Stump

There’s always time for one more cast!

I love fishing with my clients and other people, especially when I know I can share my knowledge of fishing. With Salty Day Fishing Charters, you can ensure you are safe, go home with lots of trophy fish and experience inshore fishing at Florida’s Crystal River. I have been fishing my local waters off Crystal River for over a decade, and I am always eager to share my fishing expertise with my clients.

When asked about my favorite guide experience, my trip with a young lady always pops up in my mind. My all-time favorite trip as a guide was during a trip with an eight-year-old young lady. She has no fishing experience and never fished before. I can clearly remember our trip. In just two hours of fishing, she becomes a star of her own. I taught her how to hook and cast the bait. She eventually starts catching fish on her own. You can see the excitement on her parent's faces, and of course, I am proud, too. I kept telling myself that I probably ruined a man somewhere in her future with the expectations and achievements she got that day. That kid is astounding. You know, I am a kid-lover at heart. When kids show patience and eagerness to learn, I will spend a lifetime teaching them.

Looking back, I can say that I have fished many bodies of water and targeted different fish species. My best catch was a 52” trophy redfish in the Mosquito Lagoon a few years back. It was an excellent trophy fish, and I surprisingly did a replica mount. Mosquito Lagoon is on the east coast of Florida, a portion of the Indian River Lagoon system and the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Aside from massive redfish, spotted sea trout, black drum, common snook, tarpon, mangrove snapper, sheepshead, and hardhead sea catfish are commonly caught in the lagoon. Joining fishing tournaments will help you learn more skills and gain more confidence. Fishing tournaments will help shape you and the way you fish. I can remember all the best times I had joining fishing tournaments. I fished and joined the PTTS tournament out of Boca Grande for several years of chasing the all-mighty tarpon. As I have said before, Boca Grande is my favorite fishing location. The Professional Tarpon Tournament Series is the largest and richest live-release tarpon tournament. The competition features five regular season events and one championship event held in Boca Grande Pass in Florida. Teams joining the PTTS compete for a chance to take home a 21-foot bay boat with cash prizes for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th finishes. PTTS is televised and watched by audiences worldwide over a 13-week series.

We're lost in fishing, don’t try to find us.

Fish is a vital food source, and a unique mixture of high-quality protein and important nutrients make fish a priceless food. As for me, I do have my own favored fish dish. My favorite fish meal is Blackened Red Snapper over a bed of rice with a homemade Cajun cream sauce. You need to fillet the red snapper for this recipe. This recipe is easy to prepare and delicious.
