Looking for a true family-friendly fishing destination? Look no further than High Point, which has many easily accessible lakes and reservoirs that provide convenient facilities and amenities.

High Point City Lake Park is home to 350-acre High Point City Lake. It is home to largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, Bodie bass (a hybrid striped bass of white bass), crappie, sunfish, bluegill, bullhead, chain pickerel, yellow perch, northern pike, walleye, and common carp. You can fish from both the bank and your private boat if it's less than 9.9 HP. There are fishing boats, canoes, and kayaks available for rent in the park.

If you’re new to largemouth bass fishing or looking to improve your skill, head to Oak Hollow Marina, where you’ll find the Oak Hollow Fishing Trail. This pilot fishing project has been designed to teach anglers about the behaviors and patterns of largemouth bass in different seasons. The marina management offers brochures to give you more information on how the fishing trail works, including GPS coordinates for the 11 fishing sites scattered around the lake. Other parts of the lake are open for bank fishing. The most common fish species in the lake that you can hope to catch are largemouth bass, striped bass, Bodie bass, crappie, blue catfish, channel catfish, white perch, sunfish, and bluegill.

Randleman Lake, a relatively new reservoir in Randolph and Guilford Counties that extends east of High Point, is a favorite among local anglers fishing for largemouth bass even at the height of summer.

Apart from its homegrown lakes and reservoirs, High Point offers easy access to lakes and municipal reservoirs in nearby Greensboro and Winston-Salem. Greensboro, in particular, has three municipal reservoirs that are highly productive/ Winston-Salem is home to Salem Lake, where you can fish from the pier and a boat for bass, catfish, and carp.
