Bethune Fishing: From Drinking Water to Recreational Fishing

Rich natural resources surround Bethune. Lynches River freely flows to its east, a gorgeous 140-mile long river where many recreational activities can be enjoyed, such as fishing, wildlife viewing, and camping, with boating as the most popular. Anglers may set out to the river and drift fishing or stay on the shoreline and fly fishing. Games that anglers must watch out for include yellow bullhead, flat bullhead, white catfish, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, bluegill, flathead catfish, warmouth, blue catfish, American eel, bowfin, black crappie, redear sunfish, redbreast sunfish, redfin pickerel, chain pickerel, and pumpkinseed.

Another water body to the east is Lake Robinson or Lake John Robinson. The lake was originally made to serve the demand for drinking water but is now full of activities such as a place to be rented out for events and a spot for recreational fishing. The lake is vast, with an 800-acre area fed by the South Tyger River. Boating, canoeing, kayaking, and paddleboarding are allowed in the lake. However, swimming cannot be done here. The lake has a boat ramp and three fishing piers to support fly fishing and drift fishing. Lake Robinson’s healthy waters support fish species that include largemouth bass, bluegill, blue catfish, white perch, and black crappie. With a beautiful spacious natural area, the place has something in store for everyone. Bring your family and friends here when you come for a fishing trip!
