The Poppa Wahoo is a 54’ Hatteras sportfishing yacht built for performance and comfort. She accommodates up to six guests and comes fully equipped with outriggers, downriggers, a fighting chair, and plenty of deck space for the thrill of battle. For convenience, there are clean bathrooms on board, making it easy to relax between bites. This vessel blends fishing power with passenger comfort, delivering a trip that’s as enjoyable as it is productive.
Your adventure includes all the gear and essentials. Rods, reels, tackle, and fishing licenses are provided, so all you need is the desire to fish. Live bait is often used, and depending on the trip, you may even catch it yourself—a fun bonus to the day. You’ll try a mix of trolling and bottom fishing with light or heavy tackle, while the adventurous can take things further with Shark fishing or even spearfishing. Depending on the season, you may encounter Wahoo, Mahi Mahi, Grouper, Snapper, Sailfish, Tuna, Swordfish, Marlin, and more. Every trip holds a chance at something spectacular.
Families are welcome aboard, and kids will love being part of the action. Small children must wear life vests, and we recommend bringing one that fits perfectly. The Poppa Wahoo is also wheelchair accessible, ensuring that everyone has a chance to join the fun. To keep things running smoothly, a professional First Mate will assist throughout the trip—it’s customary to tip them 20% for their hard work and expertise.
Be sure to bring polarized sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat to stay comfortable under the Florida sun. Bottled water and light snacks are included, but you’re free to bring your own drinks, lunch, or even cocktails to enjoy on deck. Looking for something special? My crew and I went out on the Poppa Whaoo for a full day trip and we had a blast! We started the day out trolling for Tuna and Mahi, and then we did some deep drop dropping for some Vermilen Snapper, then we ended off the day smoking the Yellowtail Snapper and getting a stud Yellow Jack! Such a fun time with the captains and the mates! My crew had so much fun and we will be definitely going back down there ASAP!

My son and I had such an amazing experience this spring break 2025 on Poppa Wahoo. It was a windy day but that didn’t matter. Captain George and Wyatt took us to the perfect spot and with some coaching (for me), we caught 19 keepers- yellow tail and a king mackerel! Highly recommend and would absolutely do it again. The boat was luxurious and they were so attentive!

It was a real pleasure to go fishing for a full day on Poppa Wahoo. What a crew with two very experienced knowledgeable captains, David Clark and Skip Bradeen. Our mates were Tyler and Wyatt and I immediately felt at home and welcomed aboard the great Hatteras fishing boat. We left early and finished with everyone taking care of the tackle and our needs instantly. I’ve been out 8 or 10 times over the years. I’ve never had as wonderful an experience as I did. We caught 12 Mahi, 8 yellow tail snapper, a lemon shark (released) and a very nice Bonita that decided to live in the ocean again instead of on our dinner plate. Poppa Wahoo is a very luxurious comfortable vessel that you will make you feel right at home by the hospitality . I recommend it so much and I sure certainly hope I can come back and do this again real soon. Thank You guys, Dale, Monty and Sergio. PS. They fillet and take care of your fish as soon as you get off the boat.
