Guide Carey Thorn is a wealth of knowledge and is an all around great human being. I first met Carey while fishing with my then 10 year old son. It was at creek I hadn't fished before and although we were catching fish, I knew we should be doing better. Carey is walking out with a client and they had limited. He comes over and begins talking to us. He proceeds to hand us a pack of flukes, said "hook these through the eye, cast it out, and let it fall. You'll feel the sandbass hit it". He asked if I had polarized glass, which I did, and told me to put them on. He then asked if that's the only stringer I had...I said yes. He goes in his bag and gives me another one and said..."you'll need this. You're gonna limit". That was the last time I saw Carey. I was like that's an amazing guide to do all of that for free. I didn't even know his name. A couple of years later, my son and I are watching YouTube and he says, "DAD, that's the guy that gave us those lures and the stringer years ago!" It surely was! 3 years ago I bought a boat and was doing my break in on Lavon. I see Carey with a guide trip and idle over to him. I proceed to tell him I met him several years ago and he stops me mid sentence..."Yeah over at Pecan Creek with your son...he's gotten big!" My son and I were astonished that 2 people he met only once for a couple of minutes he knew instantly...years later. I proceeded to tell him I wanted to book an electronics trip with him. He gave me his number and later that day we set up the trip. Carey showed me how to use my 2D Sonar, Downscan and SideScan. In less than an hour I had picked it up and was becoming effective at reading my electronics. I run into Carey from time to time, in the creeks or on the lake and he still gives me pointers on things I could do to increase my knowledge. If you are looking for an absolutely amazing guide to put you on fish, to teach you electronics or increase the knowledge you already know...CAREY A THORN is that man!!! You will not be disappointed. Thanks again Carey for that amazing interaction over a decade ago. My son still tells that story!
