Chauvin is a census-designated place located in Terrebonne Parish, in Houma, southern Louisiana. The CDP is known for the bayous that surround it. It was named after a young French pioneer who established the oldest recorded retail business, Albert Eloie Chauvin. Until now, the business established by Chauvin, Chauvin Brothers, is running and has been helping to build communities for years.
Tourists spend time and effort to see Chauvin’s beacon of hope, the Lady of the Sea, built-in 1958. The Rodeo Association contacted Italian sculptor Aldo Perna to make the sculpture, a statue of the Virgin Mary. The beacon was there to assist anglers returning to the island. Whether for fishing or just a leisure tour, Chauvin is the destination you shouldn’t miss.
