Ratings & Reviews Summary in Oregon

AI ReviewAI Generated Review Summary

Fishing in Oregon offers diverse opportunities from the Columbia River's salmon and sturgeon runs to coastal waters targeting rockfish, lingcod, halibut, and Dungeness crab. Anglers fish productive spots along the Oregon Coast, Rogue River, Siuslaw River, Winchester Bay, and Tillamook Bay for Chinook salmon, coho, steelhead, walleye, and tuna. Guides consistently help families reach limits quickly while teaching techniques to novice anglers. The fishing experience stands out for professional equipment, patient instruction, and guides who adapt to conditions by switching target species or locations. Many trips combine salmon fishing with crabbing excursions, creating memorable adventures that keep customers returning for multi-generational fishing experiences throughout the year.

If you’re looking for something fun to do this is it.  We wanted to have some fun for memorial weekend. First it was easy to book and had great communication with Eugene. Fresh crab and fish what a trip first the captain of the boat was great and easy going nothing seemed to bother him and his wife Tammy was just as great. They put us on the fish right away. We limited out on salmon and sea bass before noon we even caught several lingcod.  Then off to pull the crab pots   Best no hassle trip we have ever had.   Thanks Eugene and Tammy can’t wait to come back

Had a great time with DG Columbia Adventures last August fishing the ocean out of Astoria. The salmon action was non stop! We limited all 3 days and even made a trip for rockfish and lingcod which we also got our limits of. So much fun and coming home with different species to cook is always great. Already got my 2026 trip booked and can’t wait. Thanks for being a great captain Don!

I've never fished out of a drift boat before. I also haven't fished for nearly a decade. None of that mattered. TJ didn't just guide. He taught. He conversed. He engaged. This was more than just hiring a Captain, it was an educational experience. I learned not only how to fish for Steelhead, but how the Rogue moves, where the deeps and shallows lie. I learned how the weather and the sun affect the bite, and how to best time the setting of a hook. I also learned about Grant's Pass, and how the locals live. This was a full day where I had great fun, great conversation, and got to land more fish than anyone else in my group because I listened to my expert. And that sums it up best, I think. TJ is an expert native to the area, has fished the waters nearly as long as he's been alive, and has been guiding trips for the last 10 years. And it shows. It is estimated that it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill, which equates to roughly 5 years. I don't know what double mastery is called, but I think after Saturday I know what it looks like. As for amenities, it's a small boat. There are opportunities to stop at various boat launches for restroom breaks along the way, but keep in mind any time off the water is time better spent fishing. There's enough space for a lunchbox or small cooler, and I was offered water more than once during our time floating. It was a chilly day by my standards, but there was a propane heater onboard to cut that a bit. Quite comfortable, all in all. TJ keeps a rod in your hand ready to cast at all times, even if you lose your tackle to the rocks. He'll also adjust bait and lure throughout the trip based on what the fish are seeming to like on the day. If you like fishing, book. This is everything you could want in a day on the river. I cannot stress this enough. Book. A. Trip.

Yancy put us on fish despite the lower water conditions and the late-season timing. He was especially helpful with one of our anglers who was fairly new to fishing, taking the time to offer guidance and make sure everyone had a great experience. His knowledge, patience, and dedication made for an enjoyable day on the water. I’ll definitely be booking another trip with him the next time I’m in the area.

Bill was very knowledgeable about the river and place finding fishes. Helped us to understand the many different ways to fish and catching. We lost some bites but got our limit today. Great experience and will return. Thank you Bill for the opportunity.
